Storage Solutions for NXE

Do you ever get the feeling that sometimes companies didn't think things through? Or they are just making it up as they trundle along? Take Microsoft's storage solution for those Xbox 360 owners, who haven't enough space for the New Xbox Experience. You get a free 512 memory card if you own a Core system or  you can buy a 20GB Hard Drive for $20.

Why don't they drop the price of the 120 GB hard drive as well? The reason they are expensive is that they are hard to produce because of the shape apparently. But isn't the 20 GB model the same shape? You can pick up an Iomega 120 GB drive for about $70 while Microsoft insist it sells theirs for $149. If they really want people to download movies and content all the time, then they should price drop hard drives across the board.

The 20 GB model is only $20 if you have a purchased a system without a memory solution. So if you bought an Arcade model that came along with a 512 memory card, you can't get the 20 GB  for $20. Well, that sucks if you have an Arcade system because all the lowly Core systems owners get a cheap hard drive and you get jack

What about if you had the Red Ring of Death three times or more and kept the serial numbers? Theoretically you could get the $20 hard drives and then sell then on eBay to Arcade owners. I had a repaired Core system once, gave to SHADYSHEEDY just before it red ringed. Sucker. But now I am going to have to crawl to him and ask him to dig out that serial number. Oh crap.
