Eat 20 Pizzas To An Get Achievement

If you looked at my entry the other day at Easy Xbox 360 Achievements, you would have noticed something "hidden" in the achievement list. Take a look here at Midnight Club : Los Angeles, if you missed it.

I know right? Achievement sponsorship. I don't mind sutble in-game advertising, such as billboards in GTA, but when you now start to get advertising just by reading an achievement description, then where is it all going to stop? Will you soon need to purchase a DLC or "Go Large" at Burger King to get an achievement?

If you think Microsoft would never allow it,  ponder this. They recently broke "their" own rules for their own published games. There has been fierce debate on Fable II  Lionhead forums about needing a collectible "expression" (item) ONLY available on a paid DLC to be able to complete an achievement. Mircosoft's achievement policy states no consumer should pay extra to reach 1000 points in one game.  Halo 3, another Microsoft published title, has now got a unbelievable 1750 points available, instead of the so-called maximum 1250 allowed for one game.

The trouble is that is no world governing body for achievements, so if Microsoft want to change the playing field , they can. But if they have opened the floodgates, what stops some evil unscrupulous developer looking to make quick buck out of your achievement hunting? Not a lot. Because if I have to eat 20 pizzas because for an xbox 360 achievement, I'd do it. Sure why not? It is an achievement by the way to eat 20 pizzas.
