"Right, that's it you're barred!" I used get this at my local tennis club. Now Germany and Japan are saying this to Gears of War 2. No surprise for Germany as they banned the first Gears of War, however Japan is strange to ban it this time around. Must be Sony running the country there!
I don't understand why Microsoft just don't put on the violence and language filters on, the ones that make blood into sparks, unless it still would have not passed? Gemany has banned a lot of video games mostly down to violence. They do not mind nudity, it is the chainsaw they object to. If they had topless women chain-sawing, they may have been caught between a rock and a hard place then.
I know for a fact that a lot Germans are still going to play Gears of War 2. They only have to pop over to the UK and hand over 70 Euros. Problem solved. Sure they would be playing in a different language, but if you really want to play something, you will find a way. I suspect a lot of them will be under 18 anyway, so they have a double whammy. (UK, get ready for a lot of German kids with fake ID's and buying Gears of War 2 while their parents aren't looking)
So if you are wondering how effective these bans are, just head into Gears of War 2 multi-player one evening. There will still be a lot of German and Japanese kids playing and chain-sawing your ass. You will be calling a ban on these kids, but funny enough, they are banned already!
